Hi, my name is Kacie Pattavina. My husband, Joe, and I created Sweet-Paleo as a way to help people find easy and healthy Paleo-friendly recipes. I have had a passion for nutrition and cooking since college. Stomach and digestive issues caused me to try every different kind of “healthy” diet that I could find. No matter what I did, I couldn’t find a way of eating that really made me feel that great. I had tried the typical healthy diet of whole grains, low-fat dairy and sugar-free, low-calorie everything. Nothing worked.
I was eventually introduced to the Paleo diet in May of 2012. This is by far the best I have ever felt. I do not have a drastic weight loss story and I haven’t been cured of all of my symptoms. But I am now off of all prescription medicines, I feel stronger, healthier, more energized and sleep much better.
I stick to Paleo as much as I can, but over the past couple of years I’ve starting eating some gluten-free grains (like quinoa and rice) along with legumes (like chickpeas and lentils). My stance on food right now is eating as many whole, natural foods as possible. When we want traditional Standard American Diet (SAD) items like breads, muffins, etc. I always make Paleo versions. Recipes and ideas I post on Sweet-Paleo will fit into this eating lifestyle.
We currently live in Austin, Texas and have since 2013. Joe and I got married in October 2011 but have been together since 2004. We have one son, Enzo, who was born in 2014. We have two adorable puppies, Annie and Carmela, and love being active, trying new restaurants, concerts and just spending time with those we love. I have loved seeing how trusting God and putting him first in our relationship has completely changed our lives and outlook on life. We both can’t wait to see what He has in store for our future.
If you are new to the Paleo diet, I recommend you check out the “What is Paleo?” section on our site.
